Perennial grass. Forms 80 cm tall, slightly arching tufts of grass. Flower spikes grows up to 160 cm tall. It thrives in dry to moderately moist, well-drained, sandy to clayey soils. Preffered growing conditions are sunny or partially shaded spots. One of the most commonly cultivated grasses. Good winter hardiness.
